Porto is not only a city rich in vestiges from a glorious past, but also the young-spirited, warm capital city of a region marked by its winemaking as well as its closeness to the ocean. During the tour of the historic centre, your guide will schedule a stop at the Sao Bento railway station to look at its magnificent azulejos.

Return on board by coach

This morning after breakfast we depart for a guided tour of Porto, one of the oldest cities in Europe.

Departure by coach from the Villa Nova de Gaia Quay, facing Porto from across the Douro river and the famous Dom Luis I Bridge, built between 1881 and 1886 by French engineer Theophile Seyrig, one of Gustave Eiffel's pupils.

Porto, the second largest city in Portugal, stands out from the steep banks of the Douro river with its mixture of grey facades and red tiles interspersed with unusual architectural masterpieces.

Its historical centre was listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1996. We will discover The Palácio da Bolsa (Stock Exchange Building), built in 1834 by the city's Commercial Association. It has remained their headquarters to this day. After climbing up the beautiful granite and marble stairway, we will visit the former Tribunal Room, the Golden Room, and the Arab Room, decorated in the exotic Moorish Revival style. Afterwards, we will visit the Igreja de São Francisco (Church of Saint Francis), also known as the "Golden Church”. It was originally a modest convent founded by Franciscan monks in the 12th century, before being further altered by prominent Porto families in the 15th and 16th centuries. They were responsible for the Baroque style interior which mingles with the large, elaborate rose window in Gothic style on the main façade in a fascinating mixture of styles reflecting the various eras it went through.

We will cross the Dom Luis I Bridge again back to Villa Nova de Gaia for the visit of a wine cellar. Porto's pride notably stems from its famous wine known the world over, which you will get to taste.

We will return on board by coach.

The afternoon is free to do as you please, or you can ask to be dropped off to the city centre via rabelo boat.

We will return on board for dinner and an evening of Fado entertainment.

Today after breakfast we depart by coach from Porto for Guimarães. With our guide, we will begin the tour of this university town on foot to discover its historical treasures. We will get the chance to discover the Nossa Senhora de Oliveira Church (outdoors), the most important religious building in the city. The medieval heart of Guimarães is a labyrinth of lanes and picturesque plazas framed by 14th-century buildings. We will continue to the Palace of the Dukes of Braganza, a medieval estate and former residence of the first Dukes of Braganza with striking architecture.

At the end of our visit, we will return on board in Porto.

The afternoon will be spent cruising.

Enjoy an evening of dancing or a stroll through Regua by night on your own.

This morning after breakfast we depart to discover the formal gardens at the Mateus Palace and Vila Real.

We will leave from Regua or Pinhão for Vila Real, where aristocrats built grand palaces during the 16th and 17th centuries. The architecture of the religious buildings is here extremely varied. We will take a panoramic tour of the city by coach, followed by a tasting of the local pastry, Cristas de Galo.

We will then set out to explore Mateus Palace, the most beautiful and astonishing manor in all Northern Portugal. This 18th-century beauty is set in a hilly landscape reminding us of Mexico. The subtle mixture of granite, white walls, and extravagance from the Age of Enlightenment such as ledges covered in statues and Baroque style pilasters is a striking feature. Behind the manor is a delightful garden with box hedges, more statues, and a spectacular 115-foot cedar tunnel. After our tour, we will return to our ship in Regua or Pinhão.

The afternoon will be spent cruising. Enjoy an evening of Flamenco entertainment.

This morning we depart to discover Salamanca and its unusual cathedral. We depart by coach towards Salamanca where you will meet up with your guides.

Since 1988, the Old Town of Salamanca has been listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The classified area extends on the major part of the city as it used to be until the middle of the 20th century and is responsible for its growing popularity. We will visit the cathedral whose successive extensions created a mixture of styles going from late Gothic to Baroque, including Renaissance. Afterwards, we will visit one of the world's oldest Universities which first opened in 1218. Also known as "Escuelas Mayores”, the University building has a sumptuous gate adorned with the city's most famous design: a frog atop a skull - symbolic of the sin of lust being punished after death. Its wonderful library brims with old manuscripts dating back from prior to the 19th century. You will enjoy lunch and be free to discover the city on your own.

Return on board in Vega de Teron.

The morning will be spent cruising.

In the afternoon we set out to discover the Porto wines, including tasting along the Porto Wine Route.

We will discover this incredible vineyard extending over 100 km along the Douro river all the way to the Spanish border. We will visit San Salvador do Mundo and Sao Joao da Pesqueira, two small towns set among the vineyards in the Rio Torto valley. In Sao Joao da Pesqueira, you will have the opportunity to explore the arcaded main square, the chapel and the white houses with their balconies. You will visit a quinta (wine cellar) to taste the famous Porto. We will return on board in Pinhao or Folgosa.

Tonight, is our gala dinner and evening. Enjoy an evening of entertainment.

This morning after breakfast we departure by coach from Regua to Lamego for a guided tour of the city centre by coach and on foot. Lamego is a charming episcopal and commercial town where you will get to discover the Nossa Senhora dos Remedios Sanctuary. This 18th century church stands out with its white façade dominating a baroque staircase with 686 steps ending in a shrine built in the rocaille style and adorned with azulejos. The first stone was laid on February 14th, 1750 and gave way to the construction of a massive temple overlooking the city and providing a breathtaking view over the misty mountains of the surrounding landscape. Return on board in Regua.

The afternoon will be spent cruising. Enjoy an evening of traditional folk entertainment.

Enjoy one last buffet breakfast on board before disembarking at 9:00 a.m. We transfer you to your hotel in Porto.

The rest of the day is free at your own leisure.

After breakfast this morning, check out of your cabin by 10am. You will be transferred to the Porto Airport for your flight to Seville. On arrival in Seville you will be transferred to the cruise ship.

Passengers are welcome to board our ship at 5:00 p.m. After comfortably settling into your cabins, we will introduce our crew at a welcome cocktail. The evening is free to do as you please.

This morning after breakfast we depart by coach for a guided tour of Cordoba, once part of the Caliphate of Cordoba.

Cordoba's golden era started in the 8th century when it was conquered by the Moors who built about 300 mosques and countless palaces and public buildings, rivaling the splendors of Constantinople, Damascus, and Baghdad. In the 13th century, under the reign of Fernando III the Saint, the Great Mosque of Cordoba was transformed into a cathedral and new defensive structures were built, namely the Alcazar de los Reyes Cristianos and the Calahorra Tower.

After lunch in a restaurant, enjoy some free time and succumb to the charms of the city. We will return on board in Seville.

After breakfast, we leave on foot for a guided tour of Seville, beginning with the Plaza de España—a majestic crescent-shaped complex arranged around a central square. Built for the 1929 Ibero-American Exposition to showcase Spain's industrial and technological exhibits, the building's tiled alcoves each represent a different province of Spain. The complex faces the Guadalquivir, signifying the prosperous trading route towards the Atlantic Ocean and the Americas. Architect Aníbal González combined a mix of 1920s Art Deco, "mock Mudejar” and Neo-Mudéjar styles, and the Vicente Traver fountain is found in the centre. The Plaza de España has been used as a backdrop for many films, including Lawrence of Arabia, Star Wars Episode II, and The Dictator. We will continue to Santa Cruz, the most picturesque and delightful part of the city with narrow, winding cobbled streets and whitewashed houses. Formally the Jewish quarter, it remains part of the historical centre of the city and contains many renowned monuments. In the 18th century, the neighbourhood underwent a major process of urban renewal, and even today remains incredibly picturesque and full of history and hidden passageways. The visit will end with Seville's Cathedral, providing one of the last testimonies to the Gothic style. This structure was built over the ruins of an Almohad mosque as a symbol of the capital's prosperous status of great commercial town after the Reconquista.

We will return to the ship at the end of the morning.

This afternoon, we will start cruising past the Doñana National Park, designated as a World Heritage Site and a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO.

We will reach Cádiz in the evening and set out on a tour of Cádiz by night in the company of our hostess.

After breakfast set out on an excursion to Jerez and visit a "ganadería”. Jerez has been renowned for its wines, flamenco, horses, and bull ranching. A panoramic tour by coach will enable you to see the cathedral which was built in 1695 over the ruins of the old Jerez mosque and the former Salvador Church. The bell tower outside was probably built over the mosque's minaret. The rectangular temple has five naves and houses a latin cross structure. Afterwards, we will discover the Alcazar which still displays many features from its early construction in the 12th century by the Almohads. After the city fell into the hands of Alfonso X, it became the house of Sevillian Caliphs and the headquarters of Christian governors. Your tour will continue with a visit to a "Ganadería” (a property where bulls are raised), for an opportunity to learn about this living symbol of Spanish culture. The Ganaderia's goal is to raise valiant bulls for the fights who will fiercely set out to attack anyone who might taunt them even slightly.

We will return on board for lunch.

This afternoon we depart on foot to visit Cadiz, one of the oldest cities in Europe. The old centre brings together the most characteristic areas of the city, including beautiful baroque churches and elegant mansions, many of which are adorned with painted facades of delicate pastel colours and ornate wrought iron balconies. Sights include the castle of San Sebastian built in the 17th century, the popular neighbourhood of the Vina, the cathedral whose construction lasted 116 years, which explains the diversity of styles. In the 18th century, King Phillip II of Spain commissioned the construction of many important monuments in this area to protect the town from seaborne assaults. You will be able to admire the Castillo de Santa Catalina, the Castillo de San Sebastián and many more of the monuments that Cristobal de Rojas had built at the time.

Our tour continues towards the Plaza de España, formerly known as Plaza del Carbón, which was extended to mark the 100th anniversary of the constitution. The square contains the Monument to the Constitution of 1812, created by architect Modesto López Otero and sculptor Aniceto Marinas. Your tour ends via the Plaza de las Flores. You will be enchanted by this blue and white city.

Return on board in Cadiz, and we will cruise towards El Puerto de Santa Maria. Enjoy an evening of traditional Flamenco dancing on board.

After breakfast we leave on foot to tour the Osborne cellar and taste local wines in the company of our hostess. One of the oldest wineries in the region, Osborne began producing its Sherry Solera in 1772. The iconic Osborne bull silhouette has become part of the landscape in the area. We will enjoy a tasting of three different wines along with some regional products.

Afterwards, we will cruise towards Isla Minima. We will tour a genuine Andalusian hacienda located on the banks of the Guadalquivir River. You will discover the hacienda’s beautiful architecture with its impressive Andalusian patio and watch a horse show in its private arena.

We will return to the ship after the show and start sailing towards Seville.

Today after breakfast we depart by coach for a guided tour of Granada. Located at the foot of the Sierra Nevada and at the confluence of three rivers, Granada was the capital of the last Islamic kingdom in the Iberian Peninsula.

Upon arrival, you will begin your tour at the Alhambra, directly translating as "the red”, reflecting the colour of the walls at sunset. It is one of the major monuments of Islamic architecture and the most majestic mediaeval fortress in the Mediterranean. Along with the Great Mosque of Córdoba, it is the most impressive evidence of the Islamic presence in Spain from the 8th to the 15th century. The tour continues with a visit to the Generalife, which was the summer residence of the Nasrid Emirs, and its marvellous 14th-centruy gardens, where water was harnessed to refresh every courtyard and garden.

Transfer to a restaurant in the centre for lunch.

In the afternoon, you will be able to enjoy the delights of the historical centre of Granada at your own pace. Return to Seville by coach.

This morning after breakfast we set off by coach for a guided visit of the Rábida Friary. Christopher Columbus was welcomed here by Brother Juan Perez who gave him hospitality. This Franciscan Friary was one of only two or three in the world where navigation based on the stars (Celestial Navigation) was studied. Christopher Columbus stopped here before he set off for America. Then you will visit the Wharf of the Caravels where you will be able to see the replicas of Christopher Columbus's ships, the Pinta, the Niña and the Santa Maria, with which he discovered America in 1492. Return on board.

Enjoy free time in Seville this afternoon. Tonight's our gala evening and dinner.
